I actually got quite a kick out of the old fashioned language, but found this text unhelpful because it made no mention of hardiness zones. Also, it suggested using fresh manure in the bottom of beds, which conflicts with what I know about effective composting.
I was given a from someone who no longer wanted theirs. Excited at first, I purchased a few $.99 books for the bloody thing. Based upon my review of the 'REVIEW' I thought it sounded like something I could and would use. Well once downloaded and attempted to read it I discovered that the review hit on the very Best of the format, leaving the worst to be discovered upon trying to read it. I'm still tying to learn how to use the damn thing, but so far my verdict is a real book far outweighs this electronic garbage where you can't just flip to the page you want, you have to go page by page, and so if what you want is on page 54 you have to flip through 54 pages, which can take up to 5 minutes to get to.
Information is lackluster at best, had expected more advanced information. With a Degree in Horticulture, this program sucked me in with its beguiling appearance of actually being worth it....I'm only thankful I only spent $.99 for the first few books to learn on...if I'd paid more I would have demanded a refund.
I would have liked to see some not-so-ordinary information about gardening with perennials. The book covers all the basiscs nicely, so I would recommend it for gardening beginners.
I got this book to give me information about putting in a bulb garden. It gave me all the necessary information I need to put in a flower bed that will have flowers in it that will come back every year so I only have to plant once. This is an older book but I did not want to pay for a book that will be used once. After reading the section about plant combinations I decided I would add more flower types to the flower bed so I get color for longer time.
First off, I have actually read this book on my . Secondly, I didn't have any issues getting through this book as it is not an extremely lengthy book. I found this book to contain very useful and specific information for planting a Perennial Garden.
It starts off with information on preparing the beds such as spacing. Next, it explains things you need to consider such as mulching and weeding. Then it goes on to describe some types of Perennials. And lastly the book contains information on some of the best plants for shade, dry soils, wet soils, and alpine or rock soils.
This book contains a lot of good information for a beginner who wants to have a beautiful Perennial Garden Bed that will display color for a long time. I like that this information is simple and all in one place on my so I don't have to take time out for internet searches.
This is an older book written in Old English but the information is still useful and practical. One would be able to make their own Perennial Garden based on the instructions in this book.
